MANILA, Philippines – While YouTube's dedicated website and app for gaming-related videos and livestreams has been out since late August of 2015, the mobile apps haven't been officially available for people in the Philippines to download.
That all changed on Thursday, April 7, as YouTube Gaming's mobile app on iOS and Android is finally available for use in the Philippines.
The YouTube Gaming service pulls in gaming content from around YouTube, with around 25,000 dedicated pages for specific games with featured content on each. Dedicated livestream pages are also available within YouTube Gaming.
As gaming channels make up 20 of the top 100 subscribed channels in the world, with Asia becoming a fast-growing region for the watch times of games-related content, YouTube hopes to capitalize on the popularity of gaming by making its app available in more locales.
Android advantages
For Android users, an added bonus is the ability to record and livestream mobile gameplay directly from your device.
If you've ever wanted to stream your Clash of Clans gameplay, for example, you can do so by tapping "Go Live" on the YouTube gaming app, and it'll record you using your selfie camera and the phone's microphone.
Philippine gamers can download the app on iOS and Android now. – Rappler.com
