MANILA, Philippines – Twitter on Tuesday, July 12, increased the file size limit for GIF image embeds, allowing users to place GIF images of up to 15 megabytes in tweets.

If you're using a third-party Twitter service for your epic GIF battles, you may want to forego that and use Twitter's web service instead.

The 15MB upload limit only applies to Twitter.com, meaning mobile apps and Tweetdeck cannot support the expanded GIF file size limit yet.

If that won't be a problem, however, you can expect more high quality GIFs to make their way onto your Twitter feed soon. Rappler.com
