MANILA, Philippines – A leaked preview build of Microsoft's Windows 10 operating system shows off a new tactic to keep users from switching default apps over to their preferred choices.
The Verge reported Sunday, October 18 (October 19, Manila time) that a new prompt will show up when a user tries to switch a default app.
The example given is that when a user of the leaked Windows 10 build – build 10568 – tries to switch the Microsoft Edge browser to Google Chrome, a dialog box with "give Microsoft Edge a shot" will appear.
The prompt will also tout the added features of a Windows offering, such as the ability to write on webpages on the Edge browser. The prompt also appears to show up if a user tries to switch the built-in photo application or the Groove Music app.
As the build of Windows 10 being discussed is a leak, it's also possible that Microsoft may change how this prompt shows on user's computers, or altogether remove it when a new update arrives. – Rappler.com
